Merissa's journey into the world of animal care began on a farm, where her passion for animals took root. With over two decades of dedicated experience, she has evolved into a highly skilled professional in canine development. Her warm and upbeat demeanor, coupled with a deep understanding of dogs' needs and behaviors, creates a positive, enriching, no BS environment in every training session.
Specializing in areas such as aggression, reactivity, puppy foundations, competitive obedience, task training and confidence-building, Merissa brings a wealth of expertise to her clients. Her commitment to success is evident in her active participation in the competitive sport of Schutzhund and IGP.
Merissa finds immense joy in witnessing dogs under her care progress and thrive, bringing relief and happiness to their handlers. Her client-focused approach empowers individuals to overcome challenges, fostering a stronger bond with their furry companions.
Kevin first became involved in training dogs as volunteer work, raising Labrador retriever puppies to be Seeing Eye dogs. In 2005, Kevin earned his formal certification through Triple Crown Academy for Professional Dog Trainers. He then spent time working professionally at Guide Dogs for the Blind and moved on to train pet dogs professionally. Kevin has trained thousands of dogs in disciplines such as basic obedience dog training and behavior problems, as well as helped many handler teams that have competed at the club, regional, and national levels in the sport of Schutzhund.
He is always improving and learning about dog training theories, and principles. Having been involved in the sport of Schutzhund for over 13 years and he has trained and earned 31 Sch Titles with 11 different dogs at the local, regional, and National competition level. He tests and validates his training methods on the field with his dogs, not on your dog. Experience and results that you can see and validate, not just information posted on a website, social media or claims.
Outside of his profession, training dogs is still Kevin's favorite past time. His personal favorite dog sport is Schutzhund, which involves tracking, obedience, and protection work, similar to police dog training. He also is a coach for handlers working towards achieving Schutzhund/IGP titles and has many informative videos through his website. www.schutzhundkevin.com
Our home is open and available for the dogs. Everyone here has spent their life with training dogs. The children, as well as the other animals (pigs, chickens, bunny, cat, dogs, horses and goats) are all well versed and prove extremely helpful in helping the training dogs to improve their focus and self discipline.
