What is Doggie Day School?

Doggie Day School focuses on training, socialization and play. From 9 am to 12:30 we start off with play groups and obedience class to get their wiggles out and their minds sharp! 1230-1 is nap time so they can rest their minds and dream of becoming teacher's pet. 1:00 to 3:00 we rotate recess with manners class to help them stay in shape and learn to be the well behaved family members we all hope to raise our dogs to be. 3:00 to 4 is time for practicing patience while the teacher fills out notes for home.  We also have grooming and boarding available for your convenience!

Is Doggie Day School just another day care?

The program's structured environment, clear communication, and adaptability contribute to effective learning and behavior transformation. Ultimately, the success lies in a well-rounded approach that caters to the unique needs of each canine participant, fostering a positive and lasting relationship between dogs and their owners.

What is the school schedule?

It's weekdays only and runs 9-4, closed on holidays (see calendar button below).

Drop off is from 730-9 am, and pick up is from 4-6 pm.

If you cannot pick your dog up by 6pm, they will be boarded for the night.

Are there bullies at school?

Let's face it, not every student makes honor roll. Thankfully this school has decades of experience working with troubled adolescents and even dogs on death row. We have board and train programs for dogs not ready to be students, and a great principal's office and reform school for anyone feeling like being a bully at school. Your students for sure, will be safe at school.

What are the requirements?

  • Students must be fully vaccinated
  • Must come to school wearing an ID tag with their parent's phone number on it.
  • Come to school hungry and ready to work for their snacks and lunch.
  • Have their First name and last initial written on their belongings.
  • They do not need to be spayed or neutered, but females in heat will be asked to stay home during their cycle.
  • We hate pests here so make sure your pup is current on flea/tick prevention.

Will there be homework?

If you would like to reinforce the education at home, we highly recommend signing up for private sessions once a month. Learning is fun and let's face it, you want to take advantage of your dog's skills too, right?!

How much does it cost?

Tuition is due at the beginning of each month.

2 days and up $50/day

Work Week $500/wk (Mon-Fri)

Lessons $50

Grooming and Boarding are also available.

                      *Tuition is non-refundable.

What is the Work Week program?

Our Work Week program focuses on training and socialization. Dogs are dropped off Monday mornings between 730 - 9am and picked up on Friday with a lesson for the weekend. This is a great way to go thru a training program get your weekly lessons (just like in our board and train programs), while still being able to spend time with your dog over the weekend (and practice training). We highly recommend doing multiple work weeks (usually 4-8) back to back, depending on your goals.

The day:

Chores are from 7-9 am and 6-930pm. Training takes place from 9am thru 4pm followed by free time, sniff and strolls, group play or down time until 6-8pm depending on the day.

What's the difference between this and our other Board and Train programs?

  • It often times takes longer to get the same result due to the variability in handling and practice due to the dogs going home and practicing with the owners each weekend.
  • Only a training collar is included with this program, other recommended equipment would need to be purchased separately, as well as follow up lessons.
  • Dogs do not get to go on as many outings as they do in the other board and train programs.
  • Your dog is not guaranteed to go home clean each Friday

What are the requirements?

  • Students must be fully vaccinated and current on flea and tick control.
  • Owners supply their dog's food, supplements and any medications that the dog may be on.
  • They do not need to be spayed or neutered, but females in heat will be asked to stay home during their cycle.

Let's see if you and your dog are a good fit!

No (we recommend one of our board and train programs):

  • My dog is aggressive
  • I want the fastest way to the best result
  • I don't want to put in that much effort on the weekends
  • Potty Training is a problem
  • I can't come out on Friday's for a lesson.

Yes:

  • I have a good dog, he just lacks training
  • I'm ok with things taking time, I'm in it for my journey too!
  • I look forward to working with my dog on the weekends
  • I love to train but my work schedule leaves me exhausted during the week
  • I can easily schedule a one hour lesson on Fridays!

How much does it cost?

  • Work weeks are $500 per week

  • Deposit is 50% to reserve the weeks.

(example: $1,500 to reserve 6 weeks)

     *Deposits are non-refundable

  • Remaining balance ($250) is owed each Friday when you pick up.
